What are some Examples of Online Resources?

The best way to explain open resources is to have you dive in and explore them. The following web sites offer free and open content-learning objects, video, auto file, whole courses, free textbook-that you can access and use in your courses for free. (There are so many more that we can't include here). All content is English.

Carnegie Melon University's Open Learning Initiative

The OLI is a collection of openly available, free online course and materials that provide instruction for and entire course. The courses as designed, or to modify the content and sequence it to fit their needs.

Class Central

Class Central is a clearing house of MOOCs. You register and can take any number of MOOCs across a range of subject areas.

Open Cultures

Open Culture offers 1100 free online university courses (30,000 hours). The courses are available on the World Wide Web or as downloadable pod casts (audio or video broadcasts) that can be played on an iPhone or MP3 player.

EdX

Edx offers interactive online classes and MOOCs from MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, the University of Texas and many other (US) university. Topic include biology, business, Chemistry, computer science, enconomics, finance, electronics, engineering, food and nutrition, history, humanities, law, literature, math, medicine,music, philosophy, physics, science, statistic and more.

This is non-profit online open learning community which allows users to organize and participate in courses and study groups to design their own learning community.

MERLOT

MERLOT is a curated, free collection of online tools and resources specifically for higher education. It has 40,000 materials in 20 different material type categories (THes categories include, for example, animations projects, e-portfolios, drill and practice exercises, online course, open textbook, etc.). As a member of MERLOT (It is free-just sign up online) you can browse or search the learning materials in MERLOT.
